Horse heads are custom carved to order. My original horse was carved as a direct copy of an original along with all the proper dimensions which has changed little over the years, they are very similar still. I have carved over 60 of these for collectors all across the country and overseas. These are some of my favorite projects to work on and each one is individually made by hand.
All heads are carved from Bass Wood, they have glass eyes (not Paidar style), proper bracket, steel bit hardware and leather reins. They are finely carved, sanded, primed, painted and cleared in a gloss urethane. Colors are chosen by customer and usually depend on chair colors. The bracket sits over the porcelain seat and around the back edge so the actual seat will sit on top of this bracket.
These wood horse heads are a must to liven up an antique child's barber chair. There are a few salons that have some antique chairs in use for children with these horse heads on them. If you google "childs barber chair horse head" you will only find pictures of originals or my carvings.
